Logo Development for Work of Iron

Local blacksmith meets the BBC! Jack came to me to ask if I could help with bringing his existing logo into a more cohesive design. The original was a bit disjointed and difficult to use and Jack had realised this prior to appearing on the new BBC series Make it at Market which follows on the back of the highly popular Repair Shop programme.

I brought the logo into a roundel as the primary logo and there's also a stamp version of the roundel which is more straightforward to work at smaller sizes.

I created a stacked secondary version that has more reference to Jack's creative work on iron railings and furnishings. There's attention to detail in the logo, but it's still simple enough to work in various sizes and uses.

I also updated the font used in the logo to be a touch more modern and compliments the icon within the logomark. We kept the colour palette straightforward and relative. Black and dark grey and molten orange to link in with the blacksmith process.

To cap the job off, I supplied a mini brand guide. Jack doesn't require anything more indepth than that for now, but knows where I am for anything more in-depth if required.

Jack is delighted with the work and I look forward to catching up with the Make it at Market series on iPlayer!
